Finally, a music related photo as Photo of the Month... As opposed to Amsterdam or New York, there is not much of a band culture in Colombia. As most bands fear to come over to this country because of 'security issues' (kidnapping), concerts of international acts are few and far between. As a result there is hardly an 'alternative' music culture here (if you mention 'alternative' music, people do not know what you are talking about). The only international artists that make it to Colombia are usually DJ's, as they do not have crews and truckloads of equipment to carry.
As in any country where drugs are popular, electronic music is also very popular in Colombia. It has probably got the best electronic music culture (and the best parties) of all of South America. One of the few bands that mix alternative with electronic music is Sexy Lucy, who have just brought out their first full length CD.

Anybody interested in spending New Year's dancing in a nice warm place should check out the Ultramar Festival in the beautiful city of Cartagena, on the Colombian Carribean coast, January 2-3-4-5.

The 'photo of the month' is not meant as something pretentious, it is not even chosen by any jury. It could be an advertising photo I did, or a photo for a magazine or record cover. Something telling you of a journey I made or the city I'm in. Or a snapshot of my girlfriend. The only criterium it has to meet is that it was made in the last month. And that I believe it is worth bothering you with...
I am very sorry for the not-very-personal tone and character of this mail - you may or may not remember me, we might have met in some sleazy bar in some part of the earth and exchanged emails, we might be colleagues or best friends, or just share an interest in photography. We might have worked or even lived together in the past.
Of course, if you would not like to receive any more mails just let me know and I will remove you from the list.
